So this month I decided to do a different kind of family project. In class we read the book Elmer by David McKee. For our family project students will create their own Elmer the Elephant. To go along with this activity I also sent home a copy of the book. I included the documents in case you want to do it to! I can’t wait to post pictures of some of our Elmers! Sorry for the poor quality of the book, my scanner is not the best.

Every year my kids love when we read the book A Bad Case of Stripes by David Shannon.. This year I made a response page to go along with the book. My plan is to make it into a class book. I am also posting a document you could use as a cover page if you do decide to make a class book too.

I am sorry that I don't have more to post today, we had open house this week so I am a little behind though I have to say that I am very excited for this school year. I am posting some of my open house documents over the next few days. First I setup stations in my classroom for parents to go to, I got the idea from another blog but for the life of me I cannot remember where! I will also be posting one of my assessments I am using this year to go a long with our Storytown Reading Curriculum. Check back for my freebies!!

Hey! Another freebie I created. My goal for this year was to become more organized and to do that I made some labels for my classroom. I got the label template from Karen Cox which is available at Teachers Pay Teachers. I added some photos and captions to the labels to fit my needs. They are available on TPT for free so enjoy.

This is the school supply letter that I am sending home to parents this year. I converted it into a Google doc. to share. This is my first time sharing a document with Google so if you have any trouble accessing it then e-mail me and I will post the word document. I used the same format and some of the same graphics as a similar supply letter I have seen on other blogs... though I am unsure where I downloaded it from. If the graphics are yours let me know so I can give credit. Enjoy!

This is a copy of what I use with my students for a behavior log. I got the idea from a similar behavior log offered in the Really Good Stuff catalog my budget was a bit tight so I decided to make my own but change some of it to better fit my classroom needs. I copy the letter to parents for each child and then I make about 30 copies of the actual behavior chart. I copy it back to back so that I better utilize paper and then I hole punch the letter to parents and behavior log sheet and put them in a folder. I usually use the folders with the three prongs in the middle. I fill this chart out every day and I will color in the ‘smiley’ face with the color their clip was on at the end of the day (red, yellow, or green). Enjoy!

I thought I would share a brochure I made for parents and families on the topic of Literacy. This brochure is provided to families at our Kindergarten Round-up at the beginning of the year and also on our Literacy Night. You can click on the PDF file if you would like to download a copy. Enjoy!

I uploaded a copy of the spreadsheet I use to record my report card grades. If you write your student’s names in on the first marking period tab their names will transfer over to the other spreadsheets within the document. This spreadsheet has helped me record all my grades and has encouraged me to be organized. Enjoy!
